I was placed in Florbrow, Stapleton, Bristol around 1984. Carol, Tanya, Sharon was there with me. Jean was the manager at the time. Again as above would love to hear from anyone that remembers me.
I am looking for any information regarding the Wright - Kingsford children's home in Finchley in the 1900's. Any info no matter how small would be very much appreciated.
kind regards

Any information however small.. would be very much appreciated.
Sarah died on 1 Apr 1915 in Warrington. Their father Ellis was away in WW1.
I have found records relating to Fred in Nova Scotia, Canada and it is certainly him, details of marriage etc, there are records of emigration of boys including a Fred Evans in 1920 and another in 1924, not sure if one or neither is the right fred but he certainly went to Canada. I believe that he was in a party of boys when he emigrated as a farm worker - and I believe that the home was an "Annie Macpherson' home. Do you have any details of these homes?
Secondly in the case of Winifred i have no idea what happened, i have not found a marriage or a death but family history has it that she did not go to Canada. The home that Fred was in seems to have been a boys' only home. Would there have been an equivalent home for girls in Liverpool - Winifred would have been three in 1915 when her mother died and so probably would have gone into a home at that time. I am still shocked that Sarah's family did not take in the children - especially her two sisters who were married and lived nearby when she died - anywhere there we are - I wonder if you can help.
many thanks
Thank you

My father would have been 6 in 1920. I was told that he and his younger brothers, (twins) were put in a home by an uncle who was in the Navy. My father's surname was PETTY.
If anyone has information on possible orphanages in the area, I would be most grateful.
Thank you.
Elizabeth Parry-Williams
My husband and his cousins were taken into care in 1943, my husband was taken to Downend Baby Home at Downend Bristol, I have tried Ancestry.co without success, there are no family members alive to tap into for information.
If anyone can help locate these females we would be very grateful.
thank you

Braema Childrens home Bexhill.
I have read your message about Laura Matthews. When did she marry and who were her parents?
A nurse child is normally like a foster child, being looked after by someone who is being paid. Perhaps her parents or mother had to work and had no one to care for her. There was nothing legal then, you just took your chances that your child was not cruelly treated.
I checked this Jones family Richard Jones the father was a gardener and with 9 children must have been quite poor he died in 1867 and his wife Esther died in 1870.
I tried to find out what happened to some of these children Maria Emily Jones b 1859 also died in 1870 age 11. Their youngest child Sarah Sophie Jones b 1861 was in 1871 age 9 living with her eldest brother Richard J. in Greenwich by 1881 working as a housemaid and she also died young age 26 in 1888. Richard John became a policeman and died in 1905. William Henry Jones 1840-1841, Henry Charles Jones 1844 to 1869 age 25 so died same year as father. Ann Elizabeth Jones born 1847 was sent to work as parlourmaid she married William Henry Johnson 1877 and died 1924. Louisa Jones b 1850 married to someone with surname Priest took in her brother Joseph Jones b 1856 who was born an idiot, by 1881 she had placed him in the Uxbridge workhouse and records show he was an imbecile he died in 1900. Lousia died in 1949 aged 99.
James Jones b 1853 lived next door to his brother Richard died 1917.
So by 1870 if your Laura was still with the Jones family she would have gone to another family or her own parents.
All for now

Hi Alma
Just read your message. I found your father's birth June qtr 1917 Liverpool mother's maiden name Pearson. However not sure about his 2 younger brothers. Do you have their names? I found a Thomas Ramsey Born March qtr. 1927 in West Derby mother name Pearson and also a Robert H. Ramsey born Dec qtr. 1920 St. Giles London (Iknow West Derby is near Liverpool but not the London birth)
If you have the brother's names I can look up their deaths for you or maybe still alive.
Do you have any information about the parents marriage Ramsey to Pearson?
All for now
Linda
All I remember that I was only 5/6 due to my mums illness and father was in the merchant navy, I'm 67 yrs old now just thinking if anyone remembers us
I was there in the 60s. I think its closed now.
My husband was always led to believe it was a Seaman's orphanage as their father was a Merchant Seaman. Does anybody have an idea's of any orphanages in that area, I do know it was not Barnardo's
